Franklin College Switzerland aids us in broadening our horizons and making us more open minded by providing a two week travel with a professor every semester.
A group of about 30 students and a professor went to Turkey to experience and learn about the beautiful mix between the western and eastern cultures.
With the help of Borcu, our tour guide,
we were able to see the touristic, as well as the local, sites of Istanbul, Ankara, and Cappadocia.
I was originally going to write down my experiences in a journal,
however I had so many amazing times, that I decided that I wanted to share my memories and thoughts with the world.
We should travel the world to broaden our horizons. We are born into a place, and shaped to fit into a certain society growing up. But that is not completely who we are.
You are more defined and more "yourself"after meeting people and experiencing cultures from around the world. We should not follow norms because that's what is considered "correct."
We should follow our hearts.
My heart says to experience the world and then let that define who I am supposed to be today.
I'm going out into the world, experiencing completely new things that not many back home have done before. I will not do something if its considered the norm,
but I will go out of my way to try new things.
Follow what you think is right, not by what everyone else says is right.
